Lillie Heigl started this petition to Syracuse University College of Law

On Monday, November 2nd. Syracuse University College of Law sent out an email to students about their decision to use a remote proctoring service "Proctortrack" for our exams. This information was released one month from exams that count for up to 100% of our grades. There are many issues with programs like Proctortrack and the law school should not rely on such technology.

The issues with Proctortrack are numerous. It was the software used for the bar exam, which was met with a lot of frustration and concerns from users then. The biggest issues are the inherent bias in the software and the security risk it poses to students.

Two weeks ago, there was a security breach at Rutgers University because of Proctortrack.  https://dailytargum.com/article/2020/10/rutgers-responds-to-proctortrack-security-breach?fbclid=IwAR1ogDZ6dXDaemf167ca_CwxATnVVrLdbPSj2RvVZoDF4lszd0nsswnIkoY <%22>

In July 2020, the information of 440,000 users was leaked using ProctorU. https://www.change.org/p/washington-state-university-students-boycott-proctoru <%22> And https://abovethelaw.com/2020/09/examsoft-partner-suffered-440k-user-data-breach-examsoft-still-says-everythings-fine/ <%22>

These softwares are racist, especially in a time when this college is attempting to be racially aware: https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/08/07/1006132/software-algorithms-proctoring-online-tests-ai-ethics/ <%22>

Can flag you for cheating, just for exhibiting normal testing behavior like reading a question out loud: https://www.insider.com/viral-tiktok-student-fails-exam-after-ai-software-flags-cheating-2020-10 <%22>
