Having lived in the Swansea and High Park community for the past 25 years, I strongly believe that having a skate park in this area would greatly benefit our local youth and our community as a whole. Skate parks provide a safe and inspiring avenue for kids to get off the couch and outdoors, participating in an action sport. When a skate park is built, a community develops around it. For kids who are struggling to identify with team sports, this community gives them a valuable sense of belonging. Over the last two decades, there has been a vital piece missing from the recreation facilities provided to area residents. Over the years, there has been a huge influx of new condo developments and new residents and families, yet no concrete plans to add new and exciting recreational facilities to support our growing community.
