In an effort to reduce its squeezed culture budget, Sutton Council is considering selling off The Secombe Theatre and or Charles Cryer Theatre for redevelopment, if no group comes forward to take financial resposibility for them by late October.

We believe this is not enough time to properly formulate and appraise business plans and community projects which could potentially rescue the theatres, making it a likely foregone conclusion that the venues will be hurriedly liquidated.

We petition Sutton Council to conduct a full and thorough public consultation on the future of Sutton's Theatres before such a major decision is made.
