Gay-Conversion Therapy is the disgusting act of trying to change someone’s sexual-identity, gender expression, or gender identity. Men, women, children, and anyone else identifying as someone under the umbrella term LGBTQ+ are forced into these camps and therapy offices, most times by their parents, to undergo dangerous and deadly methods to “hopefully convert them to becoming heterosexual.” These practices are sinful and should be banned in every corner of the world. It is, in fact, not banned in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. There are multiple underground “businesses” that have conversion-therapy, yet hide it from the public, in our own backyards. LGBTQ+ identifying members are exposed to electro-shock therapy, forced to have sexual interactions with men and women, and undergo “spiritual exercises,” all in an effort to convert their identity to a societal-norm. This method is a vile parasite in our society, and I, Branden Cunard, will make this practice banned from my hometown and home-county. As a gay-identifying student at Easton Area High School, I do not want anyone to go through this revolting act of homophobic/transphobic/anti-LGBTQ+ therapy. Please help me put a stop this harmful practice. LGBTQ+ identifying-people should not be exposed to this stomach-churning nature. I know multiple people who have gone through this that it doesn’t change who they are as a person: it just creates extreme mental and physical harm to one’s body. I urge everyone from all walks of life to help me ban this operation in Northampton County.
