Building Local Solutions for Local Needs

 

What Is It?

The Kern River Valley Resilience & Recovery Campus is a proposed regional initiative to expand access to critical services and community resources for residents of the Kern River Valley.

 

This project is being explored as a way to bring more support closer to home for individuals and families who currently face long travel distances, limited local options, and barriers to accessing care and opportunity.

 

Potential Focus Areas

 

- Behavioral and mental health services

- Substance use treatment and recovery support

- Housing stabilization and recovery housing

- Senior and disability support services

- Youth and family programming

- Workforce development and job training

- Transportation/access coordination

- Community resilience and emergency preparedness

- Wildfire/forestry/fire-prevention workforce pathways

 

Why Is This Needed?

Residents across the Kern River Valley face significant barriers including:

 

- Limited access to healthcare and behavioral health services

- Long travel distances for treatment, appointments, and services

- Housing instability and hidden homelessness

- Senior isolation and caregiver shortages

- Workforce and transportation barriers

- Limited local youth and family support infrastructure

 

What Stage Is the Project In?

 

This initiative is currently in the planning and needs assessment phase.

 

We are gathering:

- Public records/data

- Community testimony

- Letters of support

- Petition signatures

- Partner input and planning feedback

 

Community support helps demonstrate that Kern River Valley residents want local solutions and expanded access to services.

 

How You Can Help
