Stand Together for New England's and New York's Future: A Call for Action Towards Regional Independence
I am filled with deep dismay, as a Democrat, witnessing the ongoing assault on the democracy our nation values, the continual undermining of civil rights, and the erosion of our sacred Constitution.
In an era where our democracy is under siege, the states of New England and New York can serve as a beacon of hope and democratic integrity.
The seven states of New England – Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont – and New York, have long been distinguishing themselves by ensuring social justice, promoting education, pioneering in technology and biotechnology, and championing progressive, inclusive policies. This area has the economic resources, industries, and innovations necessary to thrive independently and be better managed under local governance, and it is time to be recognized as an autonomous entity.
Four of these seven states contribute more in federal taxes than we receive in spending, leading to a massive economic drain that we could manage better within an independent framework. If these seven states were allowed to self-govern, the new region could easily surpass countries such as Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, and Israel, rivaling UK, France, and India: accumulating a GDP upwards of $3 Trillion. [source: World Bank]. Although smaller, we would possess a very significant economic footprint on a global scale, with high levels of productivity, advanced technological and educational institutions, and a strong services sector, particularly in finance and healthcare. The region has played a pivotal role in shaping American history and influencing the nation. We have always fought for civil rights, social justice, labor rights, and political reforms to better our people.
Moreover, these states repeatedly exhibit higher voting rates for social progressiveness, environmental responsibility, and equality. In recent years, Massachusetts and Connecticut were ranked among the top five states for LGBTQ rights by the Human Rights Campaign [source: Human Rights Campaign's State Equality Index], and New York is actively LGBTQ-friendly also. This illustrates a commitment to human rights that aligns more closely with international standards than much of the United States.
Denmark is often regarded as one of the best countries to live in due to its focus on investing in the well-being of its people. By supporting its people with robust healthcare, education systems, and sustainability, Denmark shows how a society can prioritize the collective good over individual wealth. This model is what our region should look to emulate and evolve—creating better infrastructure that serves the people, not the wealthy elite. While taxes are always a sensitive issue, isn't it more meaningful to contribute knowing that your taxes directly improve your community, rather than enriching the few who already have enough? Disrupting essential services like healthcare, education, and trade capacity only weakens the foundation of a thriving society. It’s time we build a system that truly supports everyone, just as Denmark has done.
Our new country, with it's strategic placement, can build a partnership with Canada to boost both our economies and return the title of friend and ally! Our placement also makes us a great ally for NATO! Without allies, we stand alone. As a new country with like-values and morals, we can stand together to build stronger ties!
This move towards secession is not about dividing America, as it has already been for two and a half centuries, but about preserving the rights and upholding the values of the masses of individuals who feel dissociated with the direction the rest of the nation is headed towards as well as creating and building a sustainable life and happiness. Let us join hands in supporting the seven states in the Northeastern region with its secession and uphold the rights and constitutional values we hold dear!
Together we rise: Secession for a sustainable New England & New York! Protect our land, our lives, our future!
If we don't act now, we risk everything!
WE ALL NEED TO STAND TOGETHER!
If we ALL fight for it, they can't stop us!!
Sign our petition, we will not back down!
Help us become an independent commonwealth!
