Support the DAC Kitty Condo

The Issue

  • The Kitty Condo Project was the result of a collaboration between several Doña Ana County Departments and the Animal Services Center of Mesilla Valley which helped boost adoptions and employee morale.
  • The project was spearheaded by the Kitty Condo Committee, which consisted of several diligent DAC employees who fundraised (no government funds were used) to pay for all necessary items including food, toys, litter, and the Condo itself.
  • Employees were able to “check-out” a cat during the workday to help reduce stress while also helping the little furry felines socialize. The benefits of the check-out period sometimes went afterhours, with some of the cats eventually finding their forever homes with DAC employees. During the Kitty Condo’s active period (2012-2019) it helped find homes for approximately 165-172 cats and provided countless smiles to employees.
  • The Kitty Condo was discontinued in January 2019 and still sits cat-less in the Doña Ana County Government Center lobby today. Please help show your support the Kitty Condo and to bring it back in some fashion or share your ideas on how to honor the legacy.
