If you are registered on the electoral roll then YOUR support is crucial. The current setup allows Maltby West to be overlooked and we are seeking your support to create our own town council to end this situation. 
Dear Residents of Maltby Town Council Eligible to Vote,

We, your fellow electors, are calling on you to join us in signing a petition to request Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council undertakes a Community Governance Review (CGR) to explore better governance for the Maltby West area. To achieve this, the petition proposes that a new Maltby West Parish Council is created, covering the area of the current Maltby West ward of the Town Council. The current Maltby East ward would remain as Maltby Town Council.

As registered electors of Maltby Town Council, we have the power to shape our community’s future. To make this happen, we need at least 7.5% of Maltby Town Council’s electorate—based on the April 2025 figure of 12,028 electors, that’s a minimum of 903 signatures. To be safe, we’re aiming for 1,000 signatures. Your support is crucial!

Why We Need Your Support
1. Our Current Situation 
Maltby West ward is part of Maltby Town Council, but its unique needs often get overlooked. A separate parish council could better serve our area.

2. Stronger Local Voice 
A Maltby West Parish Council would give us direct control over decisions that affect us, tailored to our community’s priorities.

3. Fair Share of Resources
We deserve an equitable split of funding, assets, and services. A CGR will look at how resources can be divided fairly if Maltby West becomes its own parish council.

4. Our Community’s Identity 
Maltby West has its own character and challenges. A dedicated council would champion our specific needs and aspirations.

5. More Say for You 
A local parish council would make it easier for us to get involved, hold leaders accountable, and shape Maltby West’s future.

What We’re Asking For
By signing this petition, you’re asking Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to: 
Create a Maltby West Parish Council, separate from Maltby Town Council, to govern our area. 
Divide Resources Fairly, ensuring both the existing and new parish councils can thrive with the right assets and funding. 
Set Up Elections, ideally at the next ordinary election cycle, or sooner, if possible, to get our new council started.
