The Issue

As a proud native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, I have a deep-seeded love and respect for the city and its people. From learning life's invaluable lessons from the ones before me to growing up with the norms and values in place. My bond with this city is unbreakable. Our city's leaders, both past and present, enjoyed a quality of life that I wish for each of us, particularly as we age. Wanting for others what I want for myself and my family.

Unfortunately, the city I cherish faces significant challenges. Healthy disparities and lack of regard for one another.

Necessary changes are needed to secure our city, families and seniors' futures and improve health and wellness and the living standards for upcoming generations. It's a three-fold mission: safety and sustainability, community enrichment, and healthy housing development.

Firstly, the safety and sustainability of our seniors and families must not be overlooked. With their lived experiences, our seniors serve as the backbone of our community. Their experiences can guide us to a better future, only if they are afforded the respect and provided the safety they deserve.

Secondly, we must invest in community enrichment. Providing happy, collaborative and conducive working environments only adds value to the community we so dearly hold. This, in turn, builds stronger ties within the community, creates more opportunities for personal and professional growth, and promotes general well-being.

Lastly, is the call for healthy housing development. Simply put, the quest for acquiring and redeveloping land for new businesses, healthy housing and equitable land usages shouldn't sacrifice the need for decent housing. It is time to leverage this opportunity for the benefit of the community, which is essential for the future growth of Harrisburg.

To uphold the beloved city's sanctity of Harrisburg, we all need to get together and take action. Our joint efforts can restore the quality of life that has always defined Harrisburg. Therefore, I urge you to support this petition as an affirmation of your commitment, love, and respect for this city and all its inhabitants. Sign and contribute to bringing about a safer, happier and prosperous Harrisburg.
