Earlier this month the Democratic-controlled Senate risked a Government shut-down in order to protect Planned Parenthood from a defunding initiative led by House Republicans. Now Republicans are seeking to continue with plans to strip Planned Parenthood of its Federal funding at a state level. Kansas, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Indiana are among the states planning to continue the fight against Planned Parenthood. Republicans wish to take much-needed funding for the clinic, which provides affordable health care to countless uninsured women, based on anti-abortion sentiment.
