Petition for PBS Approval – Pharmacy 777 Yanchep Village Compounding
1. Current Situation
Pharmacy 777 Yanchep Village Compounding, located in Yanchep, Western Australia, currently operates as a non-PBS pharmacy. This means that the pharmacy is not yet approved to supply medications under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and is therefore unable to provide government-subsidised prescriptions to patients.
We are currently in the process of seeking approval to become a PBS-approved pharmacy.
2. Growing Demand in the Community
Yanchep is one of the fastest-growing regions in Western Australia, with an increasing population that includes young families, elderly residents, and patients with chronic conditions.
As the community grows, so does the need for accessible and affordable medications. Many residents rely on PBS subsidies to manage their health effectively.
3. Current Challenges
At present, when patients present prescriptions that are eligible under PBS, we are unable to supply these medications at subsidised prices. As a result, patients are required to travel to other pharmacies that are not as conveniently located or accessible.
This is a significant inconvenience, particularly for elderly patients, those with limited mobility, families with young children, and individuals requiring urgent or ongoing treatment.
Recently, an elderly patient visited our pharmacy with a prescription following a medical consultation. The medication prescribed was covered under PBS; however, due to our current non-PBS status, we were unable to provide it at the subsidised cost.
The patient had limited mobility and was required to travel a considerable distance using public transport to access another pharmacy. This caused distress and raised concerns about delays in starting essential treatment.
Situations like this highlight that the issue is not just about convenience - it directly affects patient health and continuity of care.
4. Why PBS Approval is Essential
With PBS approval, Pharmacy 777 Yanchep Village Compounding will be able to:
- Provide affordable, government-subsidised medicines locally
- Improve timely access to treatment, especially for urgent prescriptions
- Support continuity of care within the community
- Reduce the burden on surrounding healthcare services
This is a necessary step to ensure the healthcare needs of the Yanchep community are properly met.
5. Call for Support
We are seeking the support of our local community to help us obtain PBS approval.
By signing and sharing this petition, you are helping to improve access to essential medicines for all residents in Yanchep and surrounding areas.
Without PBS approval, we will continue to be unable to provide subsidised medications, and patients will need to seek services elsewhere.
With your support, we can create a more accessible, efficient, and patient-centred healthcare environment in Yanchep.
Your support can make a meaningful difference. Change is needed now.
Thank you.
