Support Letter for Farmgate at 340 Mary Street

Support Letter for Farmgate at 340 Mary Street
The Issue
This proposal is to allow The Victoria Cannabis Company to undertake retail cannabis sales at 340 Mary Street. Specifically, to permit the federally-licenced grower on the property to retail its product. Recently, on behalf of B.C.’s Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, B.C.’s new Producer Retail Store licence (farm-gate sales program) was announced. This licence was created as part of the Province’s 2020 commitment to enable cannabis
sales from stores located at federally-licensed production sites in B.C. This program will provide another way for eligible producers to participate in the legal market. This licence is intended to support cannabis growers in B.C. to become part of developing a robust, diverse and sustainable legal cannabis economy for our province.
The Victoria Cannabis Company located at 340 Mary Street is one of the first, if not the first on non-indigenous land, locations to be approved by the BC government to undertake farm-gate. The final hurdle is to receive approval from the City of Victoria. An extremely unique and much-anticipated farm to consumer site will be realized within the City of Victoria. The retail focus will be on BC craft cannabis, supporting the extended local community. A tourist destination will be born and the local community will be served.
By signing below, the undersigned provides support for the proposal and, specifically, encourages Council to approve the retail sales of cannabis via the farm-gate proposed for 340 Mary Street.
