Support Equal Access in Public Higher Education!
The Issue
Why invest in a child's early K-12 education only to deny him access to higher eduction later? It doesn't and it shouldn't make sense, but that's exactly what happens to hundreds of undocumented students in Massachusetts every year. It isn't right and it isn't fair.
These young students grow up as MA residents but are not recognized as such. Everything they have worked for, all of the good grades and proud achievements are completely overshadowed by the fact that they were not born in this country. They are diligent and talented individuals who should not be defined by their undocumented status.
The Education Opportunity Act would allow students who have attended a Massachusetts high school for three years and have graduated or received the equivalent of a diploma to pay the same in-state tuition rates as their peers at public colleges.
Tell Massachesetts legislators that it's time for change and it's time these students be allowed to excersise their utmost potential!
