Like many of you, I was disappointed to hear about recent changes affecting a well-loved local spot.

I’ve been following what’s happened with dog-friendly patios here on the Island, and after speaking directly with a local business, it’s clear this isn’t just a one-off situation — it’s a broader policy issue.

So I’ve started a community petition asking for clear, consistent rules across BC that support well-managed, dog-friendly outdoor patios.

Pet ownership in Canada has grown significantly in recent years, with a large percentage of households now including at least one dog.

This isn’t about pushing against health standards — it’s about creating a fair and workable framework for both businesses and our community.
