Today, the Senate will likely pass stimulus legislation that includes substantial cuts in special education, vocational rehabilitation and other disability-related spending provisions as compared to the House version. Afterwards, the Senate and House will reconcile the bills and come up with a consensus version. This action alert enables you to tell your legislators how important it is to keep disability spending provisions fully funded as in the House version.

Letter to
U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Senate
President of the United States
As you consider what consensus legislation will come out of the Senate and House versions of the economic stimulus package currently being prepared for the President's signature, please keep disability funding provisions such as special education, vocational rehabilitation and independent living funding at full funding levels as provided in the House legislation. It is vital that states receive the funds necessary to ensure that cuts do not occur that will threaten the lives and safety of people with disabilities.
