It has been well-documented that smoking poses significant health and environmental risks.  Smokers claim that their habit is merely a "personal choice," one which they should be allowed to make based on their own consideration of the consequences of smoking.  Smoking, however, is not merely a "personal choice."  Instead, smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke presents enormous dangers for non-smokers and for our environment.  As such, we urge legislators, at the national, state, and local level, to support legislation banning smoking entirely.  Restricting smoking to certain areas or separating smokers from non-smokers is insufficient.  We have a right to breathe clean air, free from exposure to toxins released as a result of others' "personal choices."  Please support the effort to ban smoking altogether.
