We need your help to bring solar power to Alexandria City High School! ACHS currently uses natural gas for the majority of its energy but it has plenty of roof space to install solar panels. Less natural gas means less air pollution and a healthier environment for our city. ACHS can be the leader of sustainable changes in our community and promote environmental awareness to our entire city. We as the younger generation need to start making changes to create a more sustainable future.

Not only will this help the environment, but also will provide ACHS with financial benefits too. Solar energy will pay itself back in a very short amount of time, meaning that the school will pay far less on electrical bills, and potentially start making money too. The price-per-watt for solar has dropped 89% in the last decade, meaning we can get nearly three times the energy for the same price ten years ago. Additionally, President Biden's infrastructure bill offers even more benefits for public buildings like ACHS. This money saved can be used for student funding with whatever we'd like: sports, clubs, better materials, and more, could all be possibilities.
