UNITY STATEMENT TO GRANT P10,000 FINANCIAL AID TO ALL STUDENTS

We students, youth, parents, teachers, administrators, and other members of the community, are united in calling for the immediate distribution of Php 10,000 financial aid for all students who have been victims of the crisis since the pandemic. In more than a year of lockdown, students have suffered severely under the government’s blended learning program. The problem remains with the high price of education, which is further compounded by the costs for the internet, gadgets, modules and other necessities to adapt with the blended learning. As a result, the youth have been forced to drop out this year, in basic education alone, two million students have not enrolled for the year 2020. The huge cost of education adds up to the economic burden due to widespread unemployment and skyrocketing commodity prices.

Our call is for the government to provide Php 2,000 aid per month for five months as additional support and funding for all students to continue their education amid the pandemic. It can be used as a subsidy for gadgets, additional tuition, and for other fees and needs of students in the midst of uncertainties due to the government’s failed pandemic response.

We, the signatories of this petition, are united in the call to assert the right to education of all youth, especially during pandemic. The current set-up of education has had a significant impact on the overall condition of the youth. The government should provide all forms of support that it should provide for the education of the youth, especially in preparing the gradual and safe reopening of classes. We carry the call for immediate relief in the form of P10,000 aid, along with the call for scientific and comprehensive medical solutions against COVID-19.

PAHAYAG NG PAGKAKAISA PARA SA P10,000 AYUDA SA LAHAT NG ESTUDYANTE

Kaming mga estudyante, kabataan, magulang, guro, administrador, at iba pang kasapi ng komunidad, ay nagkakaisa sa pagpapanawan sa agarang pamamahagi ng Php 10,000 ayudang pinansyal para sa lahat ng mga estudyante na biktima ng matinding krisis buhat ng pandemya. Sa mahigit isang taong lockdown, matinding pasakit ang dinanas ng mga estudyante sa ilalim ng blended learning program ng gobyerno. Nananatili ang malaking problema sa mataas na presyo ng edukasyon, na dinagdagan pa ng mga gastos para sa internet, gadgets, modules at iba pang  mga pangagailangan para makaangkop sa blended learning. Buhat nito, maraming mga kabataan ang napilitang mag-drop out ngayong taon, sa basic education pa lang, nasa dalawang milyon na ang hindi nag-enroll para sa taong 2020. Ang malaking gastos sa edukasyon ay dumadagdag sa napakahirap na buhay dahil sa malawak na kawalan ng trabaho at pagsirit ng presyo ng mga bilihin.

Ang aming panawagan ay  Php 2,000 ayuda kada buwan sa loob ng limang buwan bilang dagdag na suporta at pantustos sa pag-aaral ng mga estudyante. Ito ay pwedeng magamit bilang subsidyo para  sa mga gadget, pandagdag matrikula, at para sa iba pang bayarin at pangangailangan ng mga estudyante sa gitna ng kawalan pa rin ng katiyakan buhat ng kapalpakan ng gobyerno na tugunan ang pandemya.

Kaming mga nakapirma sa petisyon na ito ay nagkakaisa sa panawagan para igiit ang karapatan sa edukasyon ng lahat ng kabataan, lalo ngayon sa panahon ng pandemya. Malaki na ang naging epekto ng kasalukuyang set-up ng edukasyon sa kabuuang kalagayan ng mga kabataan. Marapat lang na ibigay ng gobyerno ang lahat ng porma ng suporta na dapat nitong binibigay para sa edukasyon ng mga kabataan, lalo na sa paghahanda sa buong bansa para sa muling pagbubukas ng klase at pagbabalik-eskwela ng mga kabataan. Dala namin ang panawagan para sa agarang kaginhawaan sa porma ng 10,000 ayuda, kasama ang panawagan para sa siyentipiko at komprehensibong aksyong medikal laban sa COVID-19.
