Certain programs at Carleton may face challenges over the next few years as funding and student demand in a changing academic landscape may lead to pressures on specific programs. Russian language studies are a relatively niche area of student interest and may be at risk of deprecation or cancellation.

     This is a student-driven initiative to show support for a program that we believe is an important feature of Carleton's academic identity. This petition is the work of a small group of graduate and undergraduate students who value the opportunity to participate in a multi-year Russian program and wish to see it continue. Please help us advocate for a program that gives Carleton a competitive edge in the National Capital Region and among other institutions with premier programs in International Affairs and Eastern European and Eurasian studies!
