For many years Worthing town centre multi storey car parks have operated on a pay as you leave system. This allows people to dwell in the many town centre businesses and not have to worry about getting back to their car before receiving a ticket . 

Worthing Borough council have made the decision to change all multi story car parks into " pay as you park " technology . This means you will need to pay for the amount of hours you park before leaving the car park to enjoy the town centre . 

As businesses we feel this will have a huge detrimental effect at a time when high streets are already suffering massively . Customers will be more worried about recieving a ticket rather than enjoying the varied independent businesses in our lovely town centre . For further  clarity we've also researched and found that only 1 other multi storey car park operates on this outdated system and is a step back to 1980's technology.

It will effect food and drink businesses , parlours , boutiques , dentists , opticians, tattooists , leisure and any busineses where customers don't have to watch the clock to get back to the car before a ticket is issued . 

We want people to enjoy Worthing and not feel pressured to leave before taking in all the town centre offers.

Further those that park on the towns worker permit deal will face huge changes and will need to download an app, buy a series of daily passes and then register every single day they park in the town centre . This will need to be done every single day you park up forevemore . We want to make the parking as easy as possible for our customers and workers and  ensure they aren't fined for using and working in the towns businesses 

Please help us in changing the councils mind and reversing this decision by signing our petition which will negatively impact all of the town centre businesses  both small and large .
