Located at 5702 Grand Ave is a 119 yr old home as well as almost an acre lot filled with trees and highly valued greenspace. Premier Construction has purchased this property with plans of demolition and rezoning into a 9 unit townhouse complex. Each unit will be over 500K.

Reasons why you should oppose the rezoning of 5702 Grand Ave.

  • Destruction of nearly an acre of forest preserve: This development would result in the loss of many established trees and plants which are currently an ecosystem haven to many different types of animals.
  • Sets a bad precedence to "spot zone" and carve out areas of established neighborhoods when re-zoning areas have already been targeted
  • Traffic congestion, disturbance, and overflow parking issues: No traffic study was required in completing this development plan. 58th Street, 56th St. and Grand Ave already experience many traffic issues through parking and traffic flow.
  • Changes the original intent of the neighborhood: The Westwood neighborhood is well known for its characteristic homes and established trees, and is highly desired for both. This large townhouse complex is not appropriate in character or density for this neighborhood.
  • Loss of property value to surrounding residents
  • Creates issues of storm management, drainage, water pressure, etc
  • This development would require the demolition of an older home that could be restored and revitalized and is one of the founding homes of Westwood.
