The issue

The proposed redevelopment of 23-25 Electra Avenue in Ashwood is a plan that threatens to disrupt the community fabric and undermine the neighbourhood’s character. This redevelopment aims to convert a historically residential area into a dense, public housing that negatively impacts the quality of life for residents and the community.

Ashwood is known for its peaceful, suburban environment. The redevelopment plan not only threatens to change the skyline with high-rise buildings but also raises serious concerns about increased traffic congestion, crime, another poorly maintained public housing in the area, and noise. Currently, Electra Avenue is a quiet residential street that offers a safe environment for families and individuals who have long been residing in this friendly community. The redevelopment poses a risk to these fundamental aspects of Ashwood life.

The below are just some examples of why we should oppose this redevelopment;

·       Neglect of Existing Public Housing

·       Overdevelopment and Subdivision Saturation

·       Increased Crime in the Area

·       Overcrowding and Strain on Local Infrastructure

·       Lack of Adequate Parking and increased street parking

·       Negative Impact on Property Values

Furthermore, this redevelopment fails to consider the concerns of the local residents, many of whom have roots in the community that go back several generations. Our voices deserve to be heard and urge Homes Victoria to reconsider.

Please help us and sign this petition to oppose the redevelopment of 23-25 Electra Avenue in Ashwood, and to advocate for thoughtful and community-oriented urban planning.

I strongly encourage you to also email your objection to The Department of Transport and Planning - development.assessment@transport.vic.gov.au
