As a parent of a former student at OC this is troubling. What’s the message to students - luxury sports fields and facilities matter more than preserving a threatened species and environmental degradation.
At another level it clearly shows that the fees are so excessive as to enable the school to expand facilities that are not essential and just feed the ego of the school community to be able to be even more ostentatious. I think the values are questionable.
Enough is enough Redlands Council - when are you actually going to stop development that destroys the natural habitat - you might as well change the Redlands logo to remove the koala because we soon won’t have any left. It’s as good as having the Dodo on the council logo.

The decision by the council to collect rubbish every second week is a very poor decision in light of the recent covid-19 pandemic. At least 15 million people died due not masking and poor sanitation and the Baw Baw shire wants to repeat this? The accumulation of festering, decomposing waste, not suitable to be handled sustainably will lead to leptospirosis, salmonella, malaria, cholera and the black plague 2.0. Does the shire want this responsibility on their hands? I would hope we have learned by now germs are meant to be taken seriously

Two weeks of rubbish piling up isn't just unpleasant for me, it's a real barrier. I can't always manage extra trips to the tip, and storing waste for that long isn't something my body copes with easily. I was already doing my part by recycling, composting what I could, keeping my waste down. And still I'm left with a bin I can't manage and no real support in place. I served this country, and now I can't get a straight answer from my own council about how I'm supposed to deal with my rubbish. We didn't ask for this. I just want our weekly bins back.

I sincerely hope this isn't a cost-cutting measure wearing the skin of environmentalism but perhaps, charitably, that is assuming those in charge of making the decision put any thought into it. Rather embarrassing
