This issue hits close to home for many of us who are making efforts to uphold the dignity and sanctity of women, and promote the respectable lifestyle of a virtuous woman. We are deeply troubled and worried over the messages propagated by rapper Sexy Red (Janae Nierah Wherry) in her music. Her lyrics glorify sexual promiscuity, indirectly promoting the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and behavior that is degrading towards women. The music being promoted by this person is geared towards young children who should not be exposed to this type of vile music laced with outrageous sexual references.  We believe in the power of music and its influence on society, and we are convinced that such messages are harmful and have lasting repercussions. According to the CDC, with each intimate encounter, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases increases, leading to about 20 million new infections each year in the United States alone. There is no denying the connections between music, culture, and behavior. We appeal to the stakeholders involved to cease the promotion music and product sales by rapper Sexy Red. We suggest she revamps her musical messages and use her platform to emphasize the importance of respect, modesty,  and moral behavior. We are aiming to mute Sexy Red, by having all radio stations cease the airing of her music. Moreover, school districts should deny any requests for her appearances at any institution of learning. All concerts should be cancelled to protect the health and safety of the public.
