Stop the Power Grab: Don’t Let Kansas Politicians Rig the Maps

The Issue

Kansas lawmakers are trying to change the rules to help their own party, and shut out voters they don’t like.

Republican leaders want to call a special session to redraw our state’s congressional map early.

Their goal? Get rid of Rep. Sharice Davids, the only Democrat representing Kansas in Congress.

They already changed the map just three years ago. Now they’re trying again. Not because of population changes, but to give their party more power.

This is gerrymandering, plain and simple.

If they succeed, they’ll likely break up Johnson County, our biggest and most successful county, just to weaken Democratic voters. Even some Republicans have said this is a political power grab, not a fair process.

Redistricting is supposed to happen every 10 years, after the census. It’s meant to reflect where people live, not help one party win more seats. If they get away with this now, what’s stopping them from doing it again and again?

We can’t stay quiet.

We’re calling on Kansas lawmakers, especially those who haven’t signed on yet, to say no to this special session.

Say no to rigging the maps.

Say yes to fair elections and real representation.

This isn’t just about one district. It’s about protecting our voice—and our democracy.

Sign and share if you believe voters should choose their leaders, not the other way around.
