The Issue

The Supreme Court just ruled 6-3 to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian immigrants — putting tens of thousands of people in the Boston area at immediate risk of deportation.

Many of these families have been here since Haiti's catastrophic 2010 earthquake. They are not strangers. They are our neighbors, our coworkers, our children's teachers and caregivers. They are home health aides keeping elderly residents safe, nurses and healthcare workers staffing our hospitals, construction workers building our neighborhoods, and small business owners contributing to our local economy every single day.

City Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune, who is Haitian-American, has heard directly from constituents living in fear: parents terrified of being separated from their children, workers uncertain whether they'll have jobs next week, families facing impossible choices about a country many haven't seen in over a decade.

TPS was created by Congress — with bipartisan support — precisely for situations like this. Haiti remains dangerous. Political instability, widespread violence, and a deepening humanitarian crisis make return a death sentence for many. Sending people back under these conditions isn't enforcement. It's cruelty.

Mayor Wu, Governor Healey, and Massachusetts' congressional delegation must act now — publicly oppose these deportations, use every legal tool available to protect TPS holders, and push Congress to pass permanent protection for families who have made Massachusetts their home.

Sign this petition to demand Boston and Massachusetts stand with Haitian TPS holders — before families are torn apart.
