Due to the budget cuts, NSCC has decided to shut down the Makerspace. This petition is to help keep the space open so it can continue supporting students, their projects, and their learning outcomes throughout their studies.

The space has helped many students succeed in their projects by giving them access to tools, equipment, and a collaborative environment where they can learn and create. The Makerspace has become an important part of student life, supporting learning, innovation, and creativity across many programs.

With the space being largely self sufficient, it continues to provide valuable opportunities for students without placing a major burden on the school’s resources. Many students rely on the Makerspace to complete course projects, develop practical skills that oftentimes help in future careers.

Closing the Makerspace would take away an important learning environment that encourages collaboration, problem solving, and student success. This petition is about keeping those opportunities available for current and future students who benefit from the support, resources, and community the space provides throughout their studies and thereafter.
