Stop the “Make Elections Great Again Act”

The Issue

The “Make Elections Great Again Act” would dramatically reshape how Americans vote in federal elections.

The bill would ban universal mail voting, prohibit counting ballots received after Election Day, eliminate ranked-choice voting for federal races, and impose strict new documentation requirements to register to vote.

It would also expand federal authority — including granting the Department of Homeland Security broader access to voter rolls.

Supporters frame the legislation as protecting election integrity. But evidence shows that noncitizen voting is statistically negligible, and many states already have safeguards in place.

This bill risks making voting harder for eligible Americans — including military members overseas, seniors who rely on mail ballots, rural voters, and citizens who may not have immediate access to passports or birth certificates.

Election security and voter access are not opposites. We can protect both.

Federal overreach into state-run election systems, combined with sweeping restrictions on mail voting and ballot counting, could undermine participation rather than strengthen confidence.

We call on the United States Senate to reject the “Make Elections Great Again Act” and defend fair, secure, and accessible elections.

Protect voting access. Protect constitutional rights. Stop this bill.
