Stop the KERR from Ruining Our School

The issue

For years, students at our school in Raby, NSW have looked forward to cherished traditions like the mufti for the talent show and the excitement of the athletics carnival. These aren't just events on a calendar, they're the highlights of our school life, marking important milestones especially for year 12’s. Sadly, our current principal is planning to put an end to these beloved customs, the very fabric that brings joy and unity to our school community.

He hasn’t been here all term, now he shows up and tries to change everything for the worse. He is rarely ever here but has taken away so many good things, even basic human necessities (like going to the bathroom). He has taken away the well being hub, if someone is having a panic attack or something, they have nowhere to go.

Please help us get the Department of Education to change our principal. He is creepy and just stares at students in his office on the cameras. He’s trying to ruin everything that was good in our school. Ever since he’s come, there’s been more fights, making the school more dangerous. He was recently involved in a fight that got him pushed over. This has made him try to cancel our athletics carnival. Let’s not let him tear our school apart further. The mufti day talent show has also always been an all school event, which he knows. He’s trying to ruin it for the whole school because he got pushed over ONCE by ONE student.

He has also gotten rid of multiple teachers, really good ones, just because they speak out. They speak out against him trying to ruin this school and because of this, they get fired.

The decision to abolish the mufti for the talent show and to cancel the athletics carnival is undermining the spirit and morale of students. These traditions have always been more than mere school functions; they have celebrated our achievements, fostered our talents, and uplifted our spirits. The anticipation and preparation leading to these events create invaluable school memories that students cherish forever.

Numerous studies underscore the importance of school traditions in enhancing student engagement and well-being. They provide students with a sense of identity and community, which are crucial for their social and emotional development. Taking these away can have a detrimental effect on student morale and school spirit.

While change can sometimes be necessary, it should not come at the cost of losing the essence of what makes our school special. Restoring these treasured traditions is critical for maintaining the positivity and vitality of our school community.

Join us in urging the Department of Education to preserve our school traditions and prioritise the happiness and well-being of students. Please sign this petition to make your voice heard and help save our cherished school events.
