The UK Government has announced plans to make Digital ID compulsory. This would mean every citizen needs a digital identity just to live ordinary life - from getting a job to accessing certain services.

This is not just about technology. It's about freedom, privacy, and choice.

Why Digital ID is dangerous

• It gives the state unprecedented power to monitor and control ordinary people.

• Once in place, it can easily be expanded ("function creep") to cover banking, healthcare, travel, even voting.

• Those without smartphones or access to technology - elderly, vulnerable, or those who object on principle - could be excluded from society.

Britain has rejected ID cards before because we value our freedom. We must do so again.

We call on the UK Government and Parliament to stop the rollout of compulsory Digital ID. Any identity system must remain voluntary, limited in scope, and subject to strict protections.

Generations before us fought for liberty. Compulsory Digital ID is a step towards an authoritarian state where we must "show papers" to exist in our own country.
