Stop the High-Rise Development in Erin Mills Town Centre

The Issue

As a resident of Erin Mills, I bear witness to the challenges of our community every day. My daughter attends JFSS, and has to negotiate busy streets daily to get to our community center. The proposed development of nine high-rise towers (20-44 stories) at Erin Mills Town Centre poses a direct threat to our community. This development will introduce an additional 3,162 units housing over 10,000 more residents.

By increasing the local population at this rate, we risk overwhelming our schools, transit, hospitals, and other public services. This impacts not just the quantity but also the quality of these provisions. The added traffic will not only interfere with daily commutes but, most importantly, risk the safety of residents like my daughter, 1,725 students in JFSS and 1,800 students in SGSS.

The proposed construction project, estimated to span three to five years, could potentially amplify the risk of respiratory diseases and cancer among students and staff of two nearby secondary schools due to increased air pollution from construction activities.

We plead with city officials to reconsider this development and protect our community. Our children's education, health, and safety are at stake. The sustainable growth of our community cannot be traded for hasty expansion. Join us! We need your support in this crucial moment not just to safeguard the current but also the future generations of Erin Mills residents. Please sign this petition.
