Stop the Hampton Park Solar Facility Near Dubbo

Stop the Hampton Park Solar Facility Near Dubbo
The issue
The proposed development of the Hampton Park Solar and Battery Energy Storage Facility, currently in its scoping stage, has become a significant concern to many residents of Dubbo and the surrounding areas. This facility, planned to be situated just 7 kilometers from Dubbo, is alarmingly positioned between two residential housing estates.
The proposed site for this industrial-scale infrastructure is inappropriate, as it poses potential risks and disruptions to the nearby rural residences, productive agricultural lands, and ecologically sensitive areas. The proximity of such a large-scale facility to areas that are primarily residential and agricultural threatens not only the tranquility and lifestyle of the residents but also the ecological balance of the region.
Industrial-scale solar developments have their place in sustainable energy production. However, they must be meticulously planned and located where they least disrupt socio-economic and environmental aspects. The current plan for the Hampton Park facility fails in this regard, as it would necessitate significant changes in land use and potentially lead to environmental degradation, loss of agricultural productivity, and decreased property values.
It is critical that the voices of Dubbo's residents are heard, and alternative locations that would not impact local communities adversely are considered. New South Wales is a pioneer in renewable energy, and it is essential that such initiatives are executed in a manner that respects the well-being of all citizens and the environmental sanctity of our land.
We urge the Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales to reevaluate the site's location and conduct comprehensive assessments of its environmental and socio-economic impacts. By signing this petition, you stand with the residents of Dubbo in advocating for thoughtful planning and implementation of renewable energy projects. Help prevent the establishment of the Hampton Park facility at its current site and protect the community and its vibrant environment.
