Stop the Discord Username Change

Stop the Discord Username Change
The Issue
Remember that feeling when you tried to start a game or social media account and you couldn't choose the username you want? I can guess what you did (after you smashed your keyboard and went to buy a new one) - you added numbers or symbols to the end of your username. Then, Discord came along, the all new gaming, streaming, and chatting app all in one, designed to reduce the number of broken keyboards with a simple system called discriminators. Now, when you put in your generic username - NoobLegend - instead of telling you the username was taken, you could hop right in the toxic mod and kitten filled vc's of your choice. Oh, and remember that nitro feature where you could change your discriminator? Bye, Bye.

The same way our former comrades have been corrupted with their mod powers, Jason Citron has started making more business oriented decisions rather than focusing on the original purpose of discord: a platform that understood its community. Nikki Main from GizModo quoted, "...the company found more than 40% of users don’t remember the discriminator attached to their username or don’t know what a discriminator is." The issue with this statistic is the majority of these users are either not long term or high frequency users and may be alt accounts. This allows discord an excuse to expand its userbase to the average Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter user, who is used to the @ system.

If you are still unsure if you should sign this petition, first of all look at all those images below. Secondly, Discord's discriminator system has been a overlooked signature feature ever since 2015. Jason Citron originally implemented it for the same reason I started writing about this. People should be able to use their username (with a different discriminator) even if someone else has chosen it. What is the point of removing discriminators if you will have to add numbers to your username afterwards anyways?
Ex. BeastRG#0001 -> @BeastRG1837
That doesn't really make any sense now does it?
