Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, Fatou Tamba’s asylum application was refused again by the Home Office today, and she was informed this afternoon that she will be taken to the airport tomorrow morning for removal. Neither Fatou nor her solicitor has received a copy of her removal directions, raising serious legal and ethical concerns. There is now a very real risk she will be forced onto a flight tomorrow afternoon.
Fatou is a 55-year-old woman from The Gambia who has lived in the UK for 18 years. She fled political persecution, built a life in Liverpool, and is a deeply loved member of her community. Her detention and removal are not only inhumane but also unjust.
We urgently need your help tonight.
Please send an email to your MP demanding they act immediately. A letter template is below – all you need to do is fill in your MP’s name and email and send it. Time is critical.

Subject: Urgent Intervention Needed – Deportation of Fatou Tamba
Dear [MP Name],
I am writing as your constituent to urgently raise the case of Fatou Tamba, a 55-year-old woman from The Gambia, currently detained at Yarl's Wood and facing removal tomorrow, Tuesday 6th May.
Fatou has lived in the UK for 18 years and is a long-standing member of her Liverpool community. She was moved from Derwentside to Yarl’s Wood in the middle of the night on 3 May, leaving her extremely distressed.
This afternoon she was informed of her removal flight, yet neither she nor her solicitor has received the official removal directions. This lack of transparency undermines her ability to exercise her legal rights and raises serious concerns about due process.
I urge you to act now by contacting Fatou’s MP, Paula Barker, and asking the Home Office to:
- Immediately provide her legal team with her removal directions,
- Halt her removal pending proper legal representation and health assessment,
- Review the legality and fairness of her detention and planned deportation.
Fatou’s health has deteriorated in detention and she is at risk if returned. Her case deserves proper scrutiny, not rushed deportation.
Please act now.
Yours sincerely,
