The Issue

Help Us Stop This Heartless Deportation – Fatou Must Be Released from Detention

We are writing with URGENT concern about Fatou Tamba, a cherished member of our community who has been detained and was facing deportation from the UK on 21st April 2025—after living here for 18 years.

Thanks to the tireless work of her solicitor, campaigners, and community support, her deportation order was cancelled. But Fatou is still not safe — she remains in detention under inhumane conditions, and her legal team is now working urgently to secure her release.

The fight is not over. We need your help.

Fatou is not just a name on paper — she is a sister, mother, partner, auntie, and a vital part of our community. She has a fiancé in the UK and was building a life here filled with love, hope, and purpose. Her sudden detention shattered that life.

Fatou is being held in harsh, traumatising conditions, where her mental and physical health are deteriorating. She has been denied timely medical care, and her diet is unsuitable for her health needs. The environment is cold, isolating, and deeply inhumane.

We are terrified for her wellbeing.

If she is forced to return to The Gambia, she faces serious persecution. Fatou and her brother have both received death threats for their political activism. She has no family left there, no safe place to go, and would be at risk of kidnapping, imprisonment, or worse.

Fatou is known for her kindness, strength, and contribution to the UK. She has volunteered with local organisations and supported her community for years. Her life is here.

It is cruel and unjust for the UK Government to keep her locked away and under threat. She must be released immediately.

We could not have stopped the deportation without the power of solidarity. But Fatou’s freedom is still not guaranteed. Please, help us continue this fight.

Together, we can bring her home.
