Stop the Demolition of Affordable Housing in Ajax at the Red Bricks Community!

Over 100 residents at 145, 147, and 149 Kings Crescent in downtown Ajax are at risk of losing their affordable housing.  We need broad community support to help keep this from happening.

Many of my fellow residents are seniors, single parents and folks who work 2 jobs just to pay the bills.  If this 25 storey new development goes through, each of us will have very few other options and we are terrified.   For over 70 years, our Red Brick Community has provided affordable, clean, safe and secure housing and a true sense of community in downtown Ajax to thousands of past and present Ajacian's.

You may not know this, but the Red Brick Buildings was Ajax's first planned community and was spearheaded by our first Mayor Pat Bayly and the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation (CHMC) as Master Planned Community and it continues to support this goal to this day.   A recent study stated that "the Red Bricks properties have historical value significant to the community and that it along with the CMHC played a significant role in the creation of Ajax"

We all know that Ajax is celebrating its 70th Anniversary as a Town, but did you know that the Red Bricks were built and provided housing for residents even longer?  These buildings are more than just a home for fellow residents like myself, they are a community and we want to keep them that way for generations to come.

So please join us in our fight to protect our community and these historical buildings in our beloved Town by signing the petition, encouraging your freinds to do the same and by contacting local, provincial and federal politicians to keep this affordable community in tact.

Thank you
