Many of us grew up attending the events there, forming lifelong friendships and strengthening the vibrant community spirit that has defined Harefield. The bonds we created and nurtured in this center have made Harefield an exceptional place to live, filled with warmth and camaraderie.

However, the recent proposal to convert our beloved Harefield Community Centre site into an Islamic Centre has stirred great concern amongst long-standing local families who have been a part of this community for decades. Many of us feel that an Islamic Centre does not align with the needs of the broader local population, who yearn for a space where all community members can continue to gather, celebrate, and support each other as we have done in the past.

Our desire is not to oppose any faith or group but to retain and enhance a communal space that reflects and serves the diverse interests and traditions of all Harefield's residents. The community centre has been a symbol of our shared heritage, where local families – some of whom have lived here for generations – have come together to admire and uphold our rich history and culture.

In a time when community coherence is more crucial than ever, we seek a reinvestment in the Harefield Community Centre to restore it to its full potential. This facility should serve as a hub for communal activities like local events, youth clubs, family gatherings, and educational programmes that truly cater to the diverse backgrounds and interests of Harefield locals.
