Fantastic news – the toy was library reopened today! A HUGE thank you to the almost 25,000 of you for supporting for this valuable service and championing its continuation. Below is a statement from Activ, the new provider:
"Activ is delighted to announce that this morning the organisation officially re-opened Noah’s Ark WA. Located at 5 Bookham Street, Morley, Noah’s Ark is an iconic service that has been lending developmental resources and toys for children living with disability since 1975. The service was previously run by the Independent Living Centre WA (ILC), who chose Activ to succeed them through an expression of interest process on 27 February 2018. "
Noah’s Ark WA will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am-1:30pm. Annual drop-in memberships and on-site professional support will be available immediately.
Activ Chief Executive Officer Danielle Newport said that Activ welcomes both new and old members.
“We are very excited to be offering such a valuable and iconic service to the West Australian community. For over 20 years, we have operated the Activ Library – which holds the largest collection of resources on intellectual disability and autism in the Southern Hemisphere. By combining with Noah’s Ark WA, we believe we can offer a state-of-the-art resource centre for Western Australians living with disability and their families.”
Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson has congratulated Activ for its commitment to re-establish Noah's Ark WA, and for providing certainty for young people with disability and their families.
"I am delighted that Noah's Ark will continue through Activ. It is great news for so many families who have depended on support services provided through the program. I am confident that with its strong history in supporting people with disability and their families in WA, Activ will continue to build and develop Noah's Ark into a much-needed resource."
