Following an expression of interest process, Activ has been named as the new provider of the Noah’s Ark WA Toy Library. ILC Acting CEO Francine Snadden said that following overwhelming public support for the service to continue, the ILC has worked diligently to source an alternate provider for Noah’s Ark WA. Activ CEO Danielle Newport said that Activ is excited by the possibilities that it could explore with Noah’s Ark WA. “We are looking forward to taking on this new and exciting program. For over 20 years, we have operated the Activ Library – which holds the largest collection of resources on intellectual disability and autism in the Southern Hemisphere. By combining with Noah’s Ark WA, we believe we can offer a state-of-the-art resource centre for Western Australians living with disability and their families.” In a letter to parents and stakeholders dated 12th March 2018, Activ state: "We are thrilled to announce that we will be re-opening the Library at its Morley location in mid-March 2018. As the new custodians of the library, we would like to introduce ourselves to you and share some information about us. Activ is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the Western Australian community for more than 65 years. We provide a range of services for people living with disability across the State and we have run our own Activ Library for over 20 years." "Activ is working with Independent Living Centre WA to transition the service as quickly as possible. Activ hopes to open Noah’s Ark by mid-March at least two days a week. We will consider increasing opening hours based on members’ needs." "You can also expect to see a range of services on offer including: - An onsite early childhood specialist - A diverse range of workshops and information sessions - Membership plans" "We will resume Noah’s Ark as a drop-in service initially at the Morley site. Activ is currently considering the delivery service. We will keep families notified as and when this service resumes." The ILC is now working towards transitioning Noah’s Ark WA to Activ, with planned re-opening of the toy library from the Morley location in mid-March.
