Stop Rental E-Scooters from Blocking Brisbane’s Footpaths and Public Spaces
The issue
Brisbane residents, including pedestrians, wheelchair users, parents with prams, and cyclists, are struggling with rental e-scooters blocking footpaths and public spaces. These scooters are often left scattered across sidewalks, forcing people into unsafe situations, creating trip hazards, and making it difficult for those with mobility challenges to move freely.
If this problem isn’t addressed, Brisbane’s streets will become even more congested and dangerous. Unregulated parking of rental e-scooters will continue to obstruct access, put pedestrians at risk, and diminish the walkability of our city. Without stronger rules and enforcement, the issue will only escalate as more e-scooters flood our streets.
Now is the time for Brisbane City Council to act. As rental e-scooters become more common, we need designated parking zones, stronger penalties for improper parking, and clear accountability for operators to keep public spaces safe and accessible. Sign this petition today to demand immediate action and reclaim our footpaths for everyone!
