I am a student at our school, and I am personally suffering psychological damage due to the new policy implemented by our principal, Mr. Pang Choon How. He has decided that all students must have their hair cut in a specific way, stripping us of our individuality and free will. This decision not only affects me but also my fellow students who are equally distressed.

This policy is more than just about haircuts; it's about personal identity and future prospects. According to research from the American Psychological Association, having control over one's physical appearance plays a significant role in developing self-identity during adolescence (American Psychological Association). By enforcing this haircut policy, Mr. Pang is inadvertently hampering this crucial aspect of our development.

Moreover, such authoritarian policies can lead to resentment among students and negatively impact the overall school environment. We understand that there may be reasons behind implementing uniformity within a school setting; however, we believe there should be room for individual expression without compromising on discipline or unity.

We call upon the relevant authorities to intervene in this matter urgently. We demand respect for our personal choices regarding how we choose to present ourselves because these decisions should not be dictated by anyone else but us.
