The Issue

Following the rejection by the New Towns Partnership for 10,000 homes on land north of Bournes Green Chase between Southend and Rochford, there is now a further threat of of over 3,000 homes being built on Green Belt land in the Southend East & Rochford Constituency.

2,000 homes on this land are now planned as a planning application, 25/01514/RSO, has been submitted to Southend City Council by Thorpe Estates Ltd.

In close proximity to this site, a further 950 homes have been proposed on Green Belt land in Poynters Lane and another 350 homes on Green Belt land in Shoebury Road in Great Wakering.

The plans drawn up will put at least 900 vehicle movements per hour onto Bournes Green Chase without any new road infrastructure.

With over 39,000 illegal immigrants in 2025 arriving by boat and net migration into the country between 500,000 and 1  Million people each year, the new homes are unlikely to go to local people.

At a recent consultation, the developers for the Bournes Green Chase development admitted that a new health centre is unlikely to be built. Our local hospital can not cope with Essex Ambulance Service and our NHS trust rated the worst in the country.

We say, no more. Enough is enough.  This part of Essex is full. If our Green Belt is bulldozed it is gone for good.
