People who receive Ontario Works or Ontario Disability payments are already vulnerable. But the Ontario government is clawing back their social assistance payments if someone in their household is receiving the federal emergency benefit.

People receiving social assistance are more vulnerable under the COVID 19 pandemic. Vulnerable in terms of health, finances and exposure to violence. The federal government has created the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit to help people get through this time.

Reducing social assistance payments is in complete defiance of the spirit of that benefit. No other provincial government is treating the emergency benefit in this way. Only the Ontario government appears to be more concerned about the bottom line than people's well-being. 

Say NO to the Ontario government. We do not support penalizing the most vulnerable during this crisis.

Let Justin Trudeau, Doug Ford and other MPPs know that we will not tolerate this blatant mistreatment of our fellow citizens and demand that Ontario does not claw back any benefits people are receiving.

At the end of the COVID 19 pandemic, the strength of Ontario will be judged by the health of our citizens. ALL our citizens. Not by our bottom line.
