Stop McDonalds opening in Rickmansworth

Stop McDonalds opening in Rickmansworth
The Issue
McDonalds has applied for planning permission to take over the old M&Co shop.
We oppose this application because:
- HEALTH - tackling child obesity and promoting a healthy lifestyle for all should be top priority. Another fast food outlet will encourage poor food choices, specifically with younger people. Three Rivers District Council and Hertfordshire County Council supports initiatives to encourage healthy living and active lifestyles. A McDonalds directly opposes this
- HEALTH - other neighbouring authorities are taking active steps to push people away from fast food. TfL has now banned adverts of fast food on the network. https://shorturl.at/vF7JQ
- HEALTH - in cities like Newcastle, fast food outlets are being BANNED: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0vvjwjxjg4o
- ENVIRONMENT - many locals are concerned about litter from another fast food restaurant
- ENVIRONMENT - locals are concerned about noise from deliveries
- ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR - locals are concerned about associated antisocial behaviour - as seen in other neighbouring McDonalds
THERE IS A MEETING FOR LOCALS TO DISCUSS AND OPPOSE THIS APPLICATION THURSDAY 17 APRIL 19:30 - Penn Chamber, Three Rivers House, Rickmansworth. Please attend to oppose this. https://moderngov.threerivers.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=1137&MId=1480
McDonalds are now running their own online petition to gather support. Get behind this campaign against it and send a message to the council that WE DO NOT WANT THIS.
It's not the 1980's anymore. We know now that fast food is BAD FOR US. It's causing childhood obesity and a plethora of health problems for adults. Let's use our education to make informed decisions. There are OTHER CHOICES for this vacant space other than a giant multinational corporation that is going to make our children obese and profit from it at the same time.
