Stop Hinge’s Unfair Automatic Bans — Demand Fair Reviews and Real Appeals
The Issue
We, the users of Hinge, are calling on Hinge and its parent company, Match Group, to address the growing problem of unfair automatic account bans and nonexistent appeal processes.
In recent months, many Hinge users have reported being suddenly banned without warning, often without violating any community guidelines. These bans appear to be randomly triggered, possibly by automated moderation systems or flawed reporting mechanisms.
What’s worse — when users try to appeal, they receive an automated response that says the decision is final, without any real human review or explanation. This leaves innocent users permanently locked out of their accounts, matches, and conversations, with no opportunity to prove their innocence or correct misunderstandings.
This practice is unfair, non-transparent, and damaging to users who have invested time and trust into the platform. Hinge markets itself as “the dating app designed to be deleted,” but right now, it’s deleting users without cause or accountability.
We demand that Hinge:
Implements a transparent and fair review process before permanently banning users.
Stops relying solely on automated systems to make permanent ban decisions.
Provides clear reasons for bans and gives users a real, human-reviewed appeal process.
Communicates policy updates regarding account moderation publicly and clearly.
Why this matters:
Dating apps are not just platforms they’re social spaces where people build connections and relationships.
When users are banned unfairly and silenced by automated systems, trust in the platform collapses.
Everyone deserves a fair review, transparency, and respect especially when their reputation and personal interactions are on the line.
