I signed today to give Meredith a voice and as a female victim of violence. Change must happen.

However, PLEASE stop and consider why, as Brits, (and many of us are parents ourselves) who still vividly remember Meredith's horrific murder and court case circus, and can only imagine the lifelong grief that Meredith's brave and dignified family and friends endure every single day, we're all so devastated that you would even consider that performance of this nature is acceptable. I believe you've already had books published giving your side of the story, so please show some moral fibre and do the decent thing as an adult, and mother of a daughter yourself, and show the respect for Meredith you claim you have, by cancelling your show. Thank you.

Even the coroner stated this in his summary. So to have anyone think they can make fun of a person that has been MURDERED begs belief. My heart ❤️ goes out to her family and friends.

Nice man. I wish no ill will, but he's not a leader of entertainment commissioning. Also, wasn't that job meant to be based in Scotland or Manchester? Another job for a friend?? Kate needs to do much better. Will we be surprised if Chris Susman pops up in comedy?

Unfortunately, BBC content rewards mediocrity and offers too many sops. Numerous editors who failed, on grounds of merit to advance, get pay rises as unnecessary compensation. Favoured personalities get moved around big jobs regardless of suitability. Let’s not forget the Chief Content Officer role was created because Charlotte Moore was unsuccessful in her director general application. This is a role too big for any human. This is continued with the appointment of Matt Brittin, who may well offer brilliant new direction but seemingly has a real deficit in public service and broadcasting experience as BBC have highly paid role that did not previously exist in the deputy director general. These are ludicrously highly paid roles that in some cases should not exist and in others should not be operating at this expense to the public.

This isn’t just some random romance you can water down for aesthetics. This series was written for people who struggled. People who saw themselves in those pages. It covers severe, complex mental health issues that are raw, ugly, uncomfortable, and deeply personal. That is not something you squeeze into eight Prime Video episodes and call it a day. Eight episodes cannot and will not do justice to the depth of trauma, healing, and complexity these characters carry. Either it’ll be watered down, overly dramatized, or worse romanticized. And we all know how these platforms work. I can already see edits of Shannon’s dad under Lana Del Rey songs, people glamorizing abuse, turning pain into aesthetics. That’s exactly what this story was never meant to be. This fandom was built on shared pain. On readers who felt seen. Who understood the nausea, the heaviness, the silence between the lines. The books worked because they gave us space to sit with that pain safely. A glossy TV adaptation risks turning something sacred into entertainment. And let’s talk about the company. Out of all platforms Amazon? A corporation known for prioritizing profit over people? Not everything needs to be monetized. Not every powerful story needs to become “content.” There’s also the casting issue. You cannot replicate the energy readers built in their minds. These characters are complex, layered, morally messy. One wrong casting choice and the entire emotional weight collapses. This story wasn’t meant to be consumed casually. It wasn’t written to trend. It was written to heal. Not everything needs to be turned into a show. Not everything needs to be sold. Some stories deserve to stay protected
Anna supported: use your voice to stop the boys of tommen tv adaptation.not even a soul wants this books to be adapted. the books means so much to a lot of people, because we all have at least one character we can identify with, someone we can feel understood by. not a single actor will be able to portray all the problems and trauma each character has. qnd on top of that, they promote the series by saying it's going to be a romance, when it's not, because all of us readers who connect with this series know that it represents much more than that.
