STOP Governor Moore’s Proposed 2027 Budget Cuts to Maryland’s DDA

STOP Governor Moore’s Proposed 2027 Budget Cuts to Maryland’s DDA
The Issue
The Issue:
We oppose the proposed 2027 budget cuts to state funding for Marylanders with
developmental disabilities.
The Governor's budget, currently being reviewed by the state legislature, includes a 10%
reduction ($150 million) to next year's funding for the state’s Developmental Disabilities
Administration. Disability funding is comprised of state funds with an equal federal
match, so this fiscal cut triggers a reduction in federal funding. A $150 million cut in
disability funds results in a $300 million overall cut when federal match
dollars are factored into the process. If the goal of the budget cut is to “contain
costs” for our state, it makes no sense to forfeit the federal match.
Maryland has made progress in recent years by increasing funding to address the needs
of our loved ones with developmental disabilities. Over 19,000 individuals receive
support services to live, work, and thrive in the community, but a long waiting list of
individuals in serious need continues to be ignored. Giving up $150 million in federal
funds, which would benefit our citizens with DD, is not the right choice for Maryland.
Please show your support by signing this petition and sharing with friends and family
who care about the future for our children, teens and adults with disabilities.
