Aruna Miller is an elected official currently serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, a position she has held since January 18, 2023. She is notable for being the first South Asian woman, the first Asian American, and the first immigrant to be elected to statewide office in Maryland.Before her election as lieutenant governor, Aruna Miller served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2011 to 2018, representing Legislative District 15 in Montgomery County. During her time in the House, she focused on various issues, including transportation, education, and public safety. She was involved in committees such as Ways and Means and Appropriations, where she worked on legislation that supported STEM education and small business regulation reform.
