The House and the Senate have passed their budget proposals, including the 50% cuts to Florida's accelerated learning programs (AP/IB/AICE/Career Tech/CAPE/Dual Enrollment). Now they will meet in conference to resolve the differences between their budgets.

It is critical that our voices are heard during this process!! Contact your state representative and senator.  Find them here: https://www.flsenate.gov/Senators/Find

A surefire way to tell when a message is getting through to lawmakers? They start writing articles to try to control the narrative. Case in point: Senator Danny Burgess, Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on PreK-12 Education, tries to spin the cuts in his Florida Politics blog post.  His assessment loses all credibility when you read the Bill Analysis & Fiscal Impact Statement prepared by his own staff.  On page 9, they clearly state that the proposed 50% cuts are $292M that the state won't be spending on acceleration programs.

The best use of the limited time we have left  before this budget becomes law (session ends May 2), is calling and emailing our state officials. Sign and share the petition, and reply directly to Senator Burgess on his Florida Politics blog.

Let's keep pushing!
