Like many families in Florida, we bear witness to the transformative power of accelerated learning programs such as Dual Enrollment, Cambridge AICE, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Career and Professional Education (CAPE). Our children have bloomed through the challenging curriculum and vocational opportunities available to them, ensuring they are well-equipped for the demands of the 21st-century job market. Yet, proposed amendments to the Florida Statute 1011.62 in House Bill 5101 and Senate Bill 2510 cast a dark shadow over the future. These forthcoming changes threaten to slash the budget for these programs by a staggering 50 percent, drastically affecting the educational prospects of thousands of students across our state.
